Hello, only 13.5 years late to the discussion. 

John S Lacy moved into Cherry Tree Cottage from somewhere between 1892 and 1901 (census). 

In 1891 he was employed as a blacksmith in Lealholm, in 1901 he was still employed as a blacksmith however his work location had changed to ‘home’. 

Could the forge be the original Cherry Tree Cottage?  Given there were several Lacy’s who were stonemasons they may have built the new Cherry Tree Cottage in 1909.
