Yes it is quite possible that the funeral notices for William and Jane, could yield some clues as to their children's identities and whereabouts in 1958-59, -  which in turn may lead to you finding further information for them.

I would suggest that you try contacting the National Library of New Zealand, who are most amenable in assisting with research enquiries from overseas.

and they know some of the Buckans up there in Scotland
