I am not really familiar with apple but I presume you would have "iwork", if so I have found this little tip that may help.

"Introducing Pages’ Shapes

Pages provides several Shape objects you can add to a page and manipulate to create endless possibilities. They can be helpful arrows that guide people or point things out, or they can be fun captions. They can also be used to provide backgrounds or frames. Each is highly editable and adaptable. The first three items under the Shapes button are actually lines, which behave a bit differently, so there's a separate tutorial on them. (See Adding lines and arrows in Pages.) This article covers the rest of the Shapes.Shapes can be added to both types of Pages documents: Word Processor and Layout Document. read more

I think that this is your mac version http://pages.maccreate.com/2009/03/27/introducing-pages-shapes/ I personally am more familiar with adobe photoshop and the method is very similar.

I can't help any more regarding mac, but if you want a detailed tute on doing it in photoshop I can certainly oblige.

Denn

I have Photoshop Elements 5.0 and trying to find my way with the arrows on it, hence using Microsoft Office Word.

KHP,

If you have elements 5.0, I would guess that you can do it the same way as in PS.

First of all open up a picture and in your toolbar you should find a line tool as in my first pic'. If you click on this you should get a fly out on which you find one tool called custom shapes - this is the one you want.

I shall continue in the next post but it is time to cook ready for my hard working wife coming home ;D so it may be slow.

Hi Wiggy

I have Mac OSX 10.6 (Snow Leopard).  Opening an image using Preview allows you to add arrows by going to Tools/Annotate.  When you save the image, the arrow will 'stick' permanently so I suggest you play around with it on a copy of the image.

I know that Preview in Mac OSX 10.4 (Tiger) did not have this feature; I don't know if OSX 10.5 (Leopard) includes it or not.

:)

Next; at the top you will see an arrow which gives a dropdown box with a choice of shapes - select your shape and of course the colour from the box at the right of that same bar as in pic' 1

The next step is to draw your shape by dragging your curser until you are happy with it's form, as in pic' 2 - don't worry about the size and position just yet, we will fix that next.

Still cooking
