The Edward c 1801 can be discounted anyway as a possible father of Richhard and John,as shown as born in Llangedwyn in 1851 and living with Richard andCatherine in 1881 he is shown as unmarried.

I agree with the info about Mary Jones, its entirely possible.

There are many Batha (alternative spellings) baptised in Llangewyn in the early years, so he could be a relative of some kind.

It looks very likely that that is where the Llansilin Bathas came from.

In reply #14, I noted that I couldn't find James Batha b.c. 1831  in the 1851~

In 1851 Richard Batha is still at Pentre Porth with Catherine Jones and I think that James might well  be the Thomas Batha, 19 who is also there:

HO107/1993/219/7

on the same page, at Priddbwll, is an Edward Batha, unmarried, 50, b. Llangedwyn, servant to Richard and Elizabeth Edwards

This looks as if it could be the baptism of the John Batha who married Mary Jones in 1831:

Llansilin Sept 29 1803 John Batha s/o Richard Batha and Mary nee Jones. Living  Priddbwll
Mary was possibly from Llanyblodwell originally - unclear but no marriage for them in Llansilin.

Note - the early records have the name as Badda - obvious with Welsh pronounciation

This looks like the record  :)

Not sure about the 1763 birth that they have for Richard though - would need some more evidence as I don't see anything in the Llansilin or Llangedwyn records.

My continuing thanks to everyone involved, and also from the famiily, especially Mum.

I am taking her on Monday to see where John Barrett, his wife and their daughter (my grandmother) are buried, and plan to post some photographs of the plot in Trealaw cemetary.

I am also pleased to say other living relatives have made contact.

Sincerly,
Martin.
Various, including
Tuck family
Barrett  Batho  Batha  & variations....
Clark(e)
And wife's SNOXALL family.

Currently looking mostly for info on John Barrett, b about 1865.
He states (in the 1911 census) his birthplace is "Moelfre, Denbigh".
Married Sarah nee Clarke, six surviving children including my grandmother Elizabeth Mary "Bessie" (b about 1900).

Hi Heather  :)

These fit well with the children listed in my reply #26 and the first two in Reply #14:

James 1831 - ancestor of John b.c. 1865
Richard 1833
Mary Ann 1837
Emma 1839
Edward 1840

The Edward (1838)  might have died and another one born circa 1840.

I don't have access to the Llanyblodwell, Shropshire  records (apart from the Ancestry databases) so, if anyone has them, it might get us beyond the Richard who was the father of John b. 1803, Llansillin

I'm not sure if Martin wants us to do anymore - he seemed to want closure in his last reply :-\
