Hi Kismet....Sorry...It's the best I could do...As gadget said...we really need a higher res scan to bring out the detail...you either get detail with damage or no damage at the cost of detail ::).

Hi all

Kismet has sent me a larger scan- not checked it up yet but if anyone wants it, do PM me and I'll send it on :)
I'm off this weekend now so won't be doing anything on it until next week

I suddenly thought - I can provide a picture of the man himself which, although older, would give an idea of his actual features.

Many thanks to all of you for taking on this challenge - the results so far are most interesting - although I have to say I prefer monochrome.

Strange that the 600dpi should be showing at the same resolution as the first one which was scanned at 300dpi.
