Hi Alphonsus

Most of my Hoeys seem to have moved on to Dublin.  I haven't found Patrick, a farmer,  father of John yet. (John b 1827 approx).

I think Patrick's brother may have been a William who went to Manchester England and was supposedly born Louth.  Some of his family went to America.  (Found on Ellis Island ship's manifest with address Muilberry St Manchester.)

Good hunting.

Some 'Hoey's' went from Termonfeckin to St.Helens, Lancashire (now Merseyside) around 1870.

My own family were 'Harmon' from Termonfeckin and they seem to have had close connections with the 'Hoey's' -  they were very close neighbours on Census records.  After settling in St.Helens one of the Harmon girls married one of the Hoey boys.

I have more name details if anybody is interested.

Hi Noel

Thank you very much!

All the Christian names are our Hoey family names - most likely related though mostly later than the ones who came to England.

Will scrutinise and have a good think - thoiugh I don't have all my info with me at the moment.

Thank you again!

Best wishes

Hi

Thank you very much!  This is quite exciting.  I've known about the Durham brothers for quite a long time.  However I wasn't too sure about where my own Hoeys came from, nor did I know where the Durham brothers came from.

I wondered about the connection as there were a limited number of Hoeys of that generation in the UK.

However I am now sure I do have Kilsaran / Castlebellingham connections though I am working it out exactly.

Best wishes
