Birth/baptism lookup please - Mallison
« on: Saturday 19 June 10 06:28 BST (UK) »
Hi,
I am looking for a Sarah Mallison born about 1809 in Manchester, Lancashire.  I got this information from the 1851 and 1861 census records.  She married Joshua Kingston on 9 February 1828 in Manchester for which I can find the record of.  Any information would be appreciated.
Cheers Jo

Hiya Jo...as this is an unusual name I thought I would post this anyway..NO results for Mallison..Mallinson is mentioned.
.only ONE babtism on www.lan-opc.org.uk/Search/indexp/html
for Sarah Mallinson, in fact only 5 results in ALL EVENTS, so it is a rare name.....

 IN MANCHESTER
3rd July 1816 St Ann , Manchester
Sarah Mallinson
daughter of Samuel Mallinson and  Sibbill
abode Manchester
occupation Slaughterer

SO, I know this is too late for Sarah , who marries in 1828 ( pity it wasn`t 1838) but it`s the ONLY babtism ...so IF you think that Samuel and Sibbill are somehow connected to your Sarah..?? I would keep this record on file , cos they will probably pop somewhere in future in your Sarah Mallison research.....

Mallison & Mallinson ae definitely interchangable. I have Mallison's (Todmorden) in my tree and even on some official documents the same person (and with a name like Marmaduke it is definitely the same family) can be Mallinson even though grave and some signed books we have say Mallison

Thanks, yeah it is hard to find these people when they keep being recorded with different spellings or even completely different names.
