maryn here, thank you for the message.  good to meet you extended Newlands family members.  seems I have to make two posts before anything else can happen.  I have (somewhere) two letters from cousins in Scotland.  When I find them, I'll include the info here.

from maryn, re: newlands family,  I have found that one of my grandparents left scotland from 61 Lindums street, Uddingston.  also, look up Hugh Scullion(dec.30,1874) Ayr Scotland(?) eventually to Monroe Avenue,  Lackawanna , Throop, Pennsylvania.  Hugh is listed with spouse Mary in 1920 census.

I am the grandson of Francis and Bridgette Newlands thought their youngest son James. The Mary Newland mentioned was my aunt Mary (nee Gambo). She had 2 children (*) and (*). Both live in Scranton, PA.

As to the number of children of Francis and Bridgette, there were 9. Maria Smith (Milford PA), Elizabeth McKay (Elizabeth NJ), Kathleen Bird, Edward, William, Francis, Mathew, Hugh (died young) and James (my father). Any cousins living in the Orlando, FL area?
