VIC Lookup BDM
« on: Sunday 20 June 10 04:57 BST (UK) »
Hi guys

Trying to find out what happened to Caroline Vauntin[Vantin\Vaughton\Vaughten]
She married Edward Thompson I believe [yet to be confirmed] on the 22/09/1850 in Melbourne and from there the family simply disappears.

Looking for any leads. Births, deaths marriages etc etc.

Thanx in advance.

Jon

Hi Jen
Caroline was born in ca 1817 in London England. Came out I believe to Tasmania sometime after 1841 [I think] and ended up in Tasmania where a lot of her family were already domiciled. Unable to find any shipping records for any of the family. Her father James Theodore stayed in England. Her mother Mary Charlton was deceased in 1841. Some time between 1841 and 1860 she ends up in Melbourne where she has met and then marries Edward Thompson an Estate Agent. [Father Thomas Thompson [Draper looks like his occupation] and mother Elizabeth Ba**sworth]
Can not find any trace of what happen to them???? They have simply disappeared. Are you able to check SA? Some of Caroline's family were there at one stage.

Hi Kris

Thank you for that.

Just going thru the paper now. Seems our Mr. Thompson [Estate Agent and money lender] was a bit of a scoundrel. Already come across two court cases and that is just the first page of about ten in respect to excessive commissions etc.... :o
