Help with Grave stone word and symbol

Hello can anyone please tell me the word at the very top of the grave stone "In ? Remembrance of " it could just be my eyesight but I cannot make it out.
Also after Matthew Cowley's name and some others seems to be the number 1 is that a Comma or does it mean something else. Thank you for your help.

I think it is most probably a comma but not 100% sure.

Just a tip for any one who goes looking for headstones. Take a couple of bottles of water with you, one with some washing up liquid mixed in and the other just plain to wash it down after. Oh! and a nail brush too.
