Looking for Jane Neal(e)
« on: Sunday 20 June 10 11:27 BST (UK) »
I am looking for Jane Elizabeth Neal(e) who was born in Egleton, Rutland about 1834.

I have found her on the 1851 census onwards in Rutland and Lancashire but am not sure about the 1841 census.

1851 ref:  HO 107/2092/~F225

I found a record of a Jane Neal christening on IGI but it is a submitted record and I have read on here that these might not be as accurate as we would like.

Fingers crossed that some kind person will find her for me  :)

Thanks Pebs

Looks to be nothing much wrong with the entry at HO107/897/bk 6 F3; P17.

Any later marriage for her would be a better indicator of her parentage rather than a baptism.

Thanks Pauline

I know she married Edward Whitfield in Q4 1861 in Manchester.

In the 1861 census she and Edward were in service together at Liverpool Road, Barton, Lancashire. (Ref: RG9/ 2864/ ~F7)

So if I understand you correctly I would probably get closer to her parents by posting on the Lancashire board for the marriage.

Thanks again

Pebs

No, you misunderstand.
I did not say to post again for the marriage.

YOU can search freereg & lancsbmd to try and find the church and ask for a lookup in that, but if it is not there, the only way to get it would be by purchase.

Oops silly me  :-[

Haven't encountered lancsbmd yet so thanks for the pointer.

Also must be having a seriously blonde moment used Freereg loads for Northampton side of the family last year and it never even entered my head to try there again for this lot!

Where would I be without the kindness of Rootschatters to keep me on the straight and narrow!

A very shame-faced Pebs

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you Pauline

Freereg had nothing but lancsbmd came up with it immediately.
