Hi

Re Fawcett/idle family tree.

I am trying to trace birth name of Elizabeth Idle (born in 1770 in Coventry). ?Betty.

She married John Idle (1768-1839). They had a daughter Sarah Idle who married James Fawcett in 1829.

James parents were WIlliam and Martha Fawcett.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Possible?

A John Idle married Elizabeth Atkinson on 14th February 1808 in Stokesley, Yorkshire.

Elizabeth, daughter of John and Sarah Atkinson, baptised 30th April 1770 in Coventry, Warwickshire.

Hi QUeenie

The information I mentioned above is taken from parish registers, which kept a record of baptisms, marriages and burials for a parish. Transcripts of these registers (and occasionally images of them) can be searched for and viewed on FamilySearch, which is a free family history website. You must create an account to use the website.

Here is the marriage:

Here is the baptism:

You can search yourself here:

She married John Idle (1768-1839).

I'm also wondering where you got these dates?

There is a 70-year-old John Idle buried on 11th March 1849 in Richmond, Yorkshire; he would have an estimated birth year of 1779. I see that the 1846 marriage of John and Elizabeth's daughter Elizabeth to John Bishopwick is witnessed by a John Idle; could this not be her father? It does not appear she had a brother.

Mostly dates from my heritage.com

I would recommend that you conduct the research yourself first, before you look at other users' trees. People often just copy information from other trees they found online without trying to verify anything, which results in a lot of inaccuracies being spread all over the internet.

Thanks for the links but unfortunately unable to access them.

As I said in my reply above, you need to make a free account before you can access the transcripts. You will then be able to search for relevant baptism, marriage and burial entries in the various parish registers, which is not only a lot more fun than copying dates from trees, but a lot more accurate too!
