1841 census problem for Mary Ann Warren/Perfect 1807
« on: Thursday 24 June 10 09:18 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone, up until last night I felt confident about my hubbys family tree, all the info I had matched and then I had to go and use the football widow offer on Find My Past and found out the family I have for Mary Ann must have either had a tardis and were able to move from Norfolk to Middlesex in the same day to appear on 2 census returns or I have a big problem with Mary's family and unfortunately I think the second answer is the correct one, so here goes with the info I have on Mary.

MARY ANN WARREN 1807 Old Buckenham, Norfolk to Thomas Warren and Mary Bagor Bapt 14 June 1807. Died Dec Qtr 1879 aged 74 in Wayland .Samuel Perfect, married Mary Ann 23 Dec 1823 in Besthorpe witnesses Mary Warren, Sarah Perfect and Benjamin Butters. All census returns under her married name of Mary Ann Perfect

1841 HO107/78/14/5
1851 living with Sam in Besthorpe
1861 RG9/1237 fol.63 p.4
1871 RG10/1841/62/4

THOMAS WARREN Bapt 26 Sep 1779 All Saints Church Old Buckenham Norfolk to
James & Anna Maria WARREN, this matches from the 1851 census where Thomas had relocated to Middlesex to live with his son George.

1851 HO107 1536  106 Pg 34

MARY RAGER 1777 in Norfolk. Thomas Warren,  married Mary Bagor,  16 Oct 1804 in Old Buckenham, Norfolk.  They had 4 children ROBERT 1805 Bapt on 11 Aug 1805. MARY ANN 1807 THOMAS Bapt 7/5/1809.  GEORGE 1811. Mary died in 1837 aged 60 and was buried at All Saints Old Buckenham

Thomas being a widower in 1851 fits in with his wife's death in 1837 and Mary matches the witness for her daughter Marys wedding

Then disaster struck while checking information on find my past I found Thomas Warren's 1841 census return
H0107 706 2/37 19 Shoreditch

Mary Ann Warren his daughter is living with him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't have time to check Mary Ann in 1851 but this means Thomas Warren shouldn't be the father of my Mary Ann Perfect (nee Warren), there are several references of Mary definitely being known as Mary Ann Warren/Perfect so her middle name is definitely Ann.

I know you guys know your stuff can anyone help sort out this mess, and tell me if there are 2 Thomas Warren's and I was right in the first place or if there are 2 Mary Ann Warren's.

Any information would be much apprecated.

Regards
Julie

OOooo heck!

I did the exact same thing with one of my family and traced back to the 1600's with the wrong family.
I'll have a peck at the 1851 for you.

Have just checked the 1841.
I see Thomas Warren is transcribed as Warren Thomas.
The Mary Ann with him has a Thomas Charles aged 4 with her - none born in county.
I wonder whether the Elijah family with them are related??

In 1851, Thomas is living in Old Buckenham Norfolk as 'father in law' - (should it be father?)

George Warren Head Mar 39 Porter Old Buckenham
Ann Warren wife 41                                 "
James Son 7 Scholar Middle Hoxton
Charles son 7 (I think it's 2)  "
Thomas Warren father in law 71 French polisher Old Buckenham

HO107 /1536/106/34

I doubt very much if the shoreditch Thomas is yours.

Checking your info, I don't think you have made a mistake at all.
I don't think Thomas Warren in London has anything to do with you.

See what others think.

Hi guys

Thanks for your replies, I think I'll end up having to trim a few branches off Pete's family tree for him :'(, on the bright side it's better than having the wrong ancestors and just think of all the ink I'll save when I eventually print it out ;D
