Breconshire Drovers
« on: Thursday 24 June 10 20:40 BST (UK) »
Hi Listers,
I would like to find out about the drovers John George and David Davies of Poityn Llangamarch. John George died Dec 4th 1946 aged 80yrs.

The only information I have on David Davies is that he was born in the Tregaron district, hence I assume that is how he knew John George. David Davies together with John George would buy sheep from the farmers off the Cardiganshire hills. The farms included Fanog in Llanddewi Abergwesyn .

What I would really like to know is how/why did David Davies come to live in Poityn and who was he?

For those of you who have access to S4C either on TV or on the S4C website, 27th June will see the start of a week long series of programmes about the Drovers in Mid Wales. Here is a programme details link.

All the best,
Cochiaid
