Keep in mind that there were two Alfred Whiffin's in Ontario in 1911; they were ages 13 and 14.  The Alfred buried in Woodlawn may be the other Alfred.

There are several Whiffins living in Ontario.  You could try writing to them, asking if there could be a family connection:

Hello Lisa,

Thanks for your message.

Two brothers emigrated to Canada from Kent, UK  settling in Toronto, both had sons called Alfred, so it gets rather confusing.

Checked the website you listed and found some Whiffins, might check it out.

I have four branches of my own tree where they handed down first names; I know how confusing things can get.  ;)

Have you tried internet searches for the Griffins in Ontario (and Canada)?  I did try a few searches and didn't see anything; perhaps you might be able to find something eventually?  If you haven't tried searching, I might suggest key words such as: surname, first and surname, surname and first name, town, his/her occupation, died, buried, Kent, Marie's maiden name, etc.  It can take many hours, but you might eventually find clues.

You may already have this information, since you are only asking about Albert and George...marriage for Rose Jane Whiffin:

Again, you may already know about this site:

Albert married Jennie Chadwell June 2, 1919 and there is a border crossing for Albert and Jennie Oct 24, 1919 at Detroit.   They are going to Chicago Illinois and are accompanied by his brother Alfred, 21, carpet stretcher.  Albert is a plasterer.  Albert paid his own passage but Alfred's mother paid his and his record is stamped Psy infirmity.

Alfred enlisted in WWI so perhaps was greatly affected by those events.  Brothers Harry, Jack John and Albert also enlisted, all in 1916.

Harry Whiffin died 17 Dec 1918 Chicago buried St Lucas Cemetery.

attempted border crossing at Detroit April 1924 for John J.Whiffen, b. Gillingham, father Harry Whiffin, brother Albert Whiffen 159 Christy Place Toronto, occupation plaster - he was debarred - criminal
With him was a Rose Whiffin, jeweller, b. Runcorn - also debarred.

Hello Debbie,

Thank you for all the information about the Whiffin family it is most useful,

It must be the son Harry who died in 1918 as his parents are on the 1920 Census.

Hello Lisa,

I do subscribe to Ancestry, but can only access UK records.

I can access the US and Canadian records at my local library.  So will go and check next week.  At the moment we are having a heatwave here in England, so not the weather to be sitting in a library.

Yes it was the son Harry that died in 1918.   Forgot to mention that on the attempted border crossing for John J. his last place of residence was Milwaukee Wisconsin.  Father Harry Whiffen was 3432 Fond du Lac St. Milwaukee
