From the link Anne gave you on Saturday:

Send a note to the General Registrars Office, Government Buildings, Convern Road, Roscommon asking for a photocopy birth cert for research purposes. Include the following details and enclose a cheque or postal order for 4 Euro.

Name: Mary Anne Ferris
Registration district: Dublin South
Registration date - quarter and year: Oct - Dec 1910
Volume: 2
Page: 661

You should receive the cert in about 12 days.

Dara.

birth certs will show place of birth and residence which will allow to see if there is any mention of Sarsfield St.

thank you, I know my mother was born in sarsfield street, so trying to trace any ferris family and see if anything will fit together (hoping)
Is the Mary mentioned on the census and on the details Dara has given you your mother ?

I had a look at the listings for Sarsfield St in Thom's directories of 1927 and 1938, but no details of occupants are given. Probably the best way to establish if the family is connected to that address is to search for certs (birth, marriage, deaths) for the Ferris family to see what addresses are mentioned.

The parents details listed on the birth cert (names, fathers occupation etc) should allow you to check if the family on the 1911 census match up.

I can understand your frustration not locating information and I admire your perseverance in your search
Have you found out anything further that may help us to help you?
There is a possibility that Mary Ferris was staying with a family in Sarsfield Street just to have her baby rather than it being a permanent address/move because of the attitudes of that time.

A lead may be to look at two marriages in 1930 and 1934
A Bridget Ferris married in Rathdown Reference Jul-Sep 1930 Volume 2 Page 694
A Patrick Ferris married in Rathdown  Reference Apr-Jun 1934 Volume 2 Page 633
If they are the children of Thomas and Bridget the could give a link to a living generation to which we would not be able to refer here but you could follow up on
