I have one from 1904 that is the same as the one on here and the letter is the same.

My cousin has the original and it has exactly the same info as the one I have

The mother was a housemaid at the time and may have become pregnant by one of the men there. I will not expand further on it for my own reasons.

Did you try asking for a refund? As far as I'm concerned we didn't get what we paid for.

No I did not ask for a refund. Once my cousin find the original one she will scan it and send it to me so I can compare them

Isn't there somewhere you can go and view the original records?

I remember talking to someone about marriage certificate and they lived in the area, and said that instead of me ordering it through the website they'd just go to some registrar office and take a photo of the original, and that's what they did.

Does that sound right? Maybe I could find a relative in Gore to view the original?

This birth registration is in relation to this thread: http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,432542.0.html

Hi all,

Received one of these letters myself yesterday, regarding a birth in 1910
I do know that the birth person was known by a different name, correct mother record, no father mentioned.   I am going to take this copy to the History Fair in Hamilton and see what answers I get, if any ....

Thanks heaps Christine
