Hi All,

Please can anyone tell me which parish church/churches are the nearest to this address, does this address still exist and if so, is it a private dwelling?

Thanks,
Chris

Thanks Guys.

Tim, my father-in-law was born in Leeds and his birth certificate records his mother's address as 11 Lifton Place. (I'm presuming this was a private dwelling in 1919).
I'm hoping to go to Leeds in a few weeks to see if I can find a baptism record and am trying to find the nearest church/churches to this address as a starting point for my search.

Chris

Hello Chris.....

And welcome to Rootschat..

I think the two nearest churches to Lifton Place were , St Mark's Woodhouse Lane, and All Souls, which was on Blackman Lane....

If it is of any help to you, living at that address in 1937, was the Batten family, and in 1911, it was a family called Gerrard......

Hi  JeannieR,

Thanks for the info, I've made a note of these churches and will start my search with these two.

I would think that it's safe to assume this address was a private dwelling in 1919, as it would appear to be in 1911 and 1937.

My father-in-law's mother was from Lincolnshire, she left home to work in Leeds so I'm assuming that she was lodging at this address in 1919.

Thanks again for the info.

Chris
