Brookes of Whitchurch

Has anyone got any info. or connection on/with this family? My connection is via Frances Jane Brookes, my GG Grandmother who married John Richard Richards, also of Whitchurch.

We are fairly well documented, but there are a couple of 'word of mouth' links which I can't verify.

One is a link with Wellington - Bit vague this one, but granny said we were linked, but whether it was with the Duke, or the place. Probably the place, bearing in mind the proximity to Whitchurch.

The second query is the link with the Brookes of Whitchurch and the Brookes of Much Wenlock, specifically William Penny Brookes.

Any help, much appreciated.
