Hi, I see that you're looking for a Hugh Withers and a Robert Black Withers. I am the great-great grandson of Robert Black Withers, who also had a brother Hugh Withers.  They too were coal miners from Plean, Scotland.  What information, if any, do you have about them? I also may have information you are looking for.

Hello Steven

Welcome to Rootschat.

It is jval that is making the enquiry - I am just doing the looking up.  So pleased you have made contact though - Robert Black Withers seems to disappear after the passenger list entry in 1924, so I have still been looking for him.  Did he stay in the USA  ?

If we are talking about the same Robert Black Withers, then yes, he did stay in the USA.  He is my great-great grandfather, and he came here in 1924 with Hugh Withers, who is my great-great uncle.  When they arrived here in the US, they moved to Ernest, Indiana to work as coal miners.  Is jval related to Hugh Withers?

I would think jval would be related - having researched the Withers family and only having 1 brother David to find.
Just make one more reply, then press on jval in the margin, that will take you to another screen - where it will say "send this rootschatter a personal message"  You can then begin your private conversation, exchange e-mail addresses or whatever.

Regards.
Sandra  ;D

Give me a clue - where was Robert Black Wither/s the First - 1906  ;)  The nearest I have got was someone in Florida that died in 1980 but the birth date was 27 Feb 1906 - it was the surname that was'nt quite right ? SSDI issued Ohio

Then perhaps one around 1927 - Robert Black Withers  2

Then  Robert Black Withers (the third) 28 Sept 1952 Ilinois married twice.

Robert Black Withers Four - 1981 Texas
