Hi again Carol.

A lot of the graves at Billing Road Cemetery were hit by a
bomb in the War. Although all the cemeteries did have stones
removed after notice was given in the Newspapers for relatives
to be notified of removal.

I have found that Philip Stanley Pugh is noted in the Roll of Honour
I transcribed for the Town.

August 8th 1941

"SERGEANT-PILOT P.S.PUGH
Sergeant-Pilot
Philip Stanley
Pugh, of the Royal
Air Force,
youngest son of
Mr and Mrs J.
W. Pugh of 12,
Cloutsham Street,
Street, Northamp-
ton, has been
killed on active
service.
  He was 23 years
of age, and volun-
teered on Decem-
ber 19th. 1939,
being promoted to
Sergeant-Pilot
some ten months
ago.  He had been
engaged in several operational
flights over enemy and enemy-
occupied countries.
  A former Kettering Road Inter-
mediate School boy, he worked for
Messrs Allinson and Co. boot
manufacturers.  A keen Rugby
football player, he played for the
Kettering Road Old Boys and the
Men's Own XV's.
His eldest brother Mr. J. W.
Pugh, who is now at Hollywood,
was in the Australian Forces in the
last war and took his commission
in the Royal Flying Corps.  Another
brother is in the Home Guard."

Sandy, this is great. My brothers will be excited to see this as the older brother is our father. Thank you for this extra information. There were nine children in this family.

Hi Carol.

Glad you liked the photocopy.  :)

I think there maybe some graves at Billing Road although we tried to
gain access today and both gates were locked.

I will ask my friends at the Cem Office who are always so helpful.

Fingers crossed.
