1828 birth where in Buckinghamshire?
« on: Thursday 08 July 10 18:36 BST (UK) »
Hi folks, help needed on deciphering a place name on the Ancestry 1861 census for George Walton (1828). It was taken in Highley, Shropshire, at an address that looks like Barrick House. He gives his place of birth in Buckinghamshire at a place transcribed as New England, but I doubt if that's right. I think it looks more like E*gh*m. Can anyone who knows the area help?

Thanks, however things are further complicated by him giving Deptford Kent as his birthplace in the census of 1881. These places don't seem to be anywhere near each other. His wife was born in either Beverley, Yorkshire, or Oldham. It makes me wonder if they're the same family.

Hello
I know you posted this a long time ago so may not receive this but George Walton was my 2x great grandfather. He and his family have been very difficult to find not helped by the fact they like to change their surname, at least once, to Smith. I have his birthplace as Cholesbury, Bucks but, as you say, both he and his wife, Mary Anne Lamb, liked to give different places for their birth!
Regards, Barbara
