Have you looked for a Goldsmith/Wade marriage on freebmd?  Otherwise you will need a copy of his birthcert

Is he on later censuses?

Hi

I found that birth as well. I think you'll have to send for the certificate to find out his parents. I can't see a Wade/ Goldsmith marriage in Suffolk on Freebmd.

Remember the census only shows who was in that household on census night, he may not have actually have been living there, he might just be spending a few days with his grandparents.

He is not with his grandparents in 1881 and like you - I cannot find anything on the IGI etc to identify his parents nor can I find him on later censuses

He's not on the 1880 US or 1881 Canadian censuses either

I'm just looking at the 1851 census to see which daughters Jeremiah & Sarah had

Last ditch attempt will be to check freebmd for Goldsmith marriages with an uneven number of males/females on the same page
