Both the brothers signed to serve in WWI
Alexander signed up in Kingston and James in Winnipeg.  James gave his brother's address as Elginburg (a small village not far from Kingston)

Ongoing project of indexing obituary and marriage and other notices from the Port Arthur and Fort William papers.

There is a marriage notice in 1920-29 for James Pringle which ties in with the marriage record found.

There is an obituary notice for J.F. Pringle @ 63 Feb 8, 1949 Toronto.  The birth year is off from yours.

You can't actually see the obituary notice - it's just an index.  You have to take another step and request it and there is probably a cost involved.

Marriage records might not record legal names - perhaps he knew his mother as Annie.

Just looked at the J F Pringle obits from Feb 1949 in the Toronto papers...that man was James Farrand Pringle, born in Cornwall Canada.  In his 64th year.   Went to Queens University (in Kingston) in Engineering.   1907, joined the engineering department of the National Transcontinental Railway.   Wife was the former Mildred Cook.  One daughter, 4 sons.  Interment Kingston.    Was in WW1.
