Just found this thread! I am also looking for Robert Philp, of Crail, who married Margaret Allane of St Andrews, daughter of David Allane and Agnes Scott. The 1676 marriage was recorded at both St Andrews and Crail. (I have the St Andrews scan but not the Crail one.)

Will search for the earlier messages... in the meantime, I do have quite a bit on some lines of their descendants and would be very glad to share information. There's a possible/probable link to my Philps/Philips.

Alas, the Crail birth records don't go back far enough to get Robert's birth.

Jenny

Anyone related to Robert Philp, owner of Philp's Royal Hotel in Bridge of Allan?  (1803-1884).

Hello. My name is Angela Philp and I'm sure I can't help you but you may be able to help me. My dads name is Rodger philp, he came from a long line of Robert Philps but his father decided to change the name. He has a sister called Margaret. The family is originally from Scotland but moved to New Zealand some time ago. I am trying really hard to find out family information for my dad, anything really. He never knew much about his family, the only address he had to a Scotish relative I threw out the car window into the river when I was 4 years old, so I really owe it to him. Do you think these names are coincidence, or do you have any idea of knowing if they might be our family?

regards, Angela.

Hi Angela

Welcome to Rootschat  :)

Do you have your Grandparents names ? (Robert Philp and ?)

Did they go to New Zealand ?

If you can find more information we may be able to help you
Please do not give personal details of anyone who may still be living

This might be better as a new topic but I'll leave it here just now

I am looking for a Margaret PHILP who married James Williamson in 1779. I haven't proved yet that this is the correct family. Does anyone know which PHILP family she belongs to?

Her BMD? parents ....

At present I think she was JW's first wife and he didn't died until 1832 in Kirkaldy. His last wife (was it a second or even a third) was Euphemia Stuert. They were married in 1821 and she died 1834.

Any help greatly appreciated.
