In 1891 - the only children living with George and Annie were Alice and Samuel.  The family were at 37 Queen's St St George Gloucestershire

RG12 Piece 1979 Folio 39 Page 7

The only George Lewton I can find of the right age had a mother Matilda nee Hunt who married George Lewton in 1879 Keynsham and then re-married to Frederick Wilshire in 1886

Do you have a copy of his birth cert showing his parents names?  If not - where did you get the names of George Lewton and Annie Crew from?

I hope this reply works.
Thank you SO much for your help! And SO quick!
I have the birth cert of George Lewton's son - another George, born 1859, which gave his parents names.
This one born in 1959 was married 3 times.
I know the first wife was Matilda Hunt.
The second wife was Ellen Eliza Carter (nee Curtis - as it was her second marriage).  One of her children - is Ellen Matilda Lewton - my mum!
The third wife was Annie Eliza Carter.
I don't know what all your reference numbers are - but thanks - I've now got lots to digest!
Thanks again!

Hi

Some things do not tie up here

Going back to your first post above

I am trying to find out about his parents - George Lewton & Annie Crew.

That says that the 1881 Thomas George was born to George Lewton & Annie Crew which he clearly wasn't

There is a marriage between George Lewton & Matilda Hunt as shown above,  However - she re-married in 1886 so that George could not have married twice more as he died in 1884!!

Deaths September qtr 1884

George Lewton 25  Barton Regis  6a 68

I think you need to be very careful here as there are 2 George Lewton births in Keynsham in 1859 - one in the June qtr and the other in the December qtr

Your mum was b 1920

You are saying here that the George Lewton who was born in 1859 was her father -that would make him 61 when she was born and if he died in 1950 - he would have been 91 whereas he was only 68 on his death reg.

You are actually talking about George Thomas Lewton b 1881 whose parents were George Lewton & Matilda Hunt - not George Lewton & Annie Crew

Thank you for your continued interest.
I admit I got it all wrong, in my first query.
I had the Georges in the wrong order!
Going backwards, from my mum:
Ellen Matilda Lewton - b 11.10.1920
Her parents were:
Ellen Eliza Curtis (nee Carter) & George Lewton b 29.09.1881
The parents of George (1881) are:
George Lewton b 21.09.1859 & Matilda Hunt (m 12.10.1879)
The parents of George (1881) are:
George Lewton ? b 1836 & Annie Crew ? b 1839
I hope I now have this right!
and, thanks to you, I have a lot more info about Annie & George's other children, and some of the Crew family.
I now need to look at the links you have sent.
I want to find out more about George of 1881 (I think he had at least 1 brother, and 1 sister).
And then I want to look at the parents of George Lewton b ?1836.
Thank you again for all your help.
Any more information you could give me would be great, should you continue have the time!

Hi

Yes - everything is now in the right generation order.

However - are you absolutely certain that George b 1859 had parents George and Annie?

Do you have a copy of George & Matilda's marriage cert confirming his father was also called George?  I realise you have his full D o B so have a birth cert - but are you certain it's the right one in view of the 2 of the same name/year/area

The reason I ask is that the 1881 shows George b 1860 Wormley but there is no 1871 entry with that birthplace

However - the 1871 has 2 entries for George Lewton both b Bitton

One b 1859 parents Frederick & Caroline

The other b 1860 - parents George and Ann
