« on: Monday 12 July 10 19:42 BST (UK) »
Hi Folk's

Haven't been here for awhile, haven't had the time regrettably  :(  but really need help with the Walker side, I have come to a complete brick wall, I have been able to get this far, but can't find anything earlier, if anyone can help, I would climb mountains for you, hopfully there would be a headstone that I could crayon rub for you   ;D  ;D  ;D

JOHN1 WALKER was born Abt. 1801 in Caddington, Luton, Bedfordshire. He married CATHERINE
HAWKINS 27 Oct 1823 in Caddington, Luton, Bedfordshire. She was born Abt. 1797 in Woodside,
Caddington, Luton, Bedfordhire.

Notes for JOHN WALKER:
Occupation in 1851: Farm Labourer

Notes for CATHERINE HAWKINS:
Occupation 1881: Bonnet Sewer

Thank you in advance.
Mandy

Hello Mandy

The IGI has baptisms at Caddington of the 6 children of John & Catherine Walker that appear with them on the 1841 census. Also on this census is son John 1821 that I've not found a baptism for.

Also there is a baptism of a Clenny Walker on 6/5/1825 at Luton St Mary to John & Kitty Walker. Assuming she was a previous named daughter to their Clementina 1832 I found a burial on NBI of Cleemy Walker at Caddington on 3/1/1826. Also the 2nd Clenny was buried at Luton St Mary on 17/6/1846 age 17

So could Catherine be the Kitty Hawkins baptised Caddington on 20/5/1804 to parents Thomas & Elizabeth.

& could your John Walker be the one baptised on 7/02/1802 at Luton St Mary to parents William & Ann Walker

regards John

Have you checked the marriage entry to see if his parish of residence is shown? This should also give the names of the witnesses who might provide a clue

Thanks guy's, I already have this info and below are the children I have found connected to them

Children of JOHN WALKER and CATHERINE HAWKINS are: (possible that this John was born 1798)

JOHN NEWMAN WALKER, b. Abt. 1821, Woodside, Caddington, Luton, Bedfordshire; d. Sep 1875,
Luton, Bedfordshire.

DANIEL WALKER, b. Abt. 1827, Woodside, Caddington, Luton, Bedfordhire.

JAMES WALKER, b. 1829, Woodside, Caddington, Luton, Bedfordshire.

CLEMENTINA WALKER, b. 08 Jun 1834, Woodside, Caddington, Luton, Bedfordhire; d. 1884, Luton,
Bedfordshire.

EMMA WALKER, b. Abt. 1838, Woodside, Caddington, Luton, Bedfordhire.

MARY ANN WALKER, b. 1841, Woodside, Caddington, Luton, Bedfordshire.

I am trying to find John's parents, I have found a William Walker b. abt 1690, Caddington, Bedford, could this be the William who's wife is Ann??????

I do know that all cert's I have are associated with St Mary's

Wow! that was long winded  ;D

Where does the middle name Newman come from?

Who were the witnesses at the marriage?

Not sure how someone born in 1690 could be the father of someone born in 1798, nor even if 1690 is  typo for 1790

;D ;D ;D ;D ::) hahahahahhahah!  What a plonker I am!  I only came across the 1690 entry yesterday and just jumped at it.

I really have little to go on at the moment, so have no idea where the name Newman comes from and as yet I do not have the marriage cert for them, but I am planning a trip to the Luton library next week to do some serious rumaging.

Thanks for the help
Regards
Mandy
