Hi Trevor
 Please could you look for  any details of members of my WHITE  family in Pinxton . They were farmers and i can only go back as far as a marriage of James White in Pinxton which was in 1808. Going by the age when he died  i think he would have been born about 1785 ,and ive wondered if his parents had a farm in pinxton before him

Hi Mari, I have had a look in the book and there are no mentions of the WHITE family.  I do have James WHITE's marriage recorded in the Pinxton parish registers. He was married to Ann CALLADINE on 8 March 1808. Is this yours.  Regards Trevor

Thanks very much for looking . Yes thats their marriage . I have their mar ,death and its a mystery where he was from . I guess one day the brick wall will reveal its secrets

Hi Trevor,

I'd be very grateful if you are still doing lookups to see if there is any mention of my HILL line in both villages.

I know there are dozens of them from the census records and across generations, they inter-married with the BALL and MOAKES families

In particular, I'm interested in Jonathan HILL, bn 1761 S Normanton, who married Elizabeth Nuthall bn 1767 Pinxton, and Elizabeth HILL bn 1825 Pinxton, who was a servant at Brookhill Hall and, allegedly, had a child by D'Ewes COKE, the hall's owner and who also owned the local collieries.

If it's too much, perhaps you can let me know the ISBN number of the book so that I can locate a copy for myself?

The book is published by the Pinxton & South Normanton Local History Society, c/o Hilltop Road, Pinxton, Derbyshire, NG16 6QJ, I cannot recall what I paid for it.  regards  Trevor
