I'm with Groom...it deserves a prime time slot when you think of some the dross that's aired in the evenings.

The research and the stories uncovered are fascinating, but am I the only one who gets impatient with the way the programme jumps from one story to the other, and all the repetition this involves?

Every episode they feature 2 cases that have remained on the Bona Vacantia list for ages.
Have they solved many of them due to the publicity of the Heir Hunters programmes?

This is to make sure the viewer stays tuned...Authors do it too...It's what makes it compelling viewing.

Sorry but as Carol says its a common TV device and one the channel likes - we know it annoys some of you - we have however tried to ensure the recap is at a minimum so we don't repeat so much

I was interested to hear the surname Gawkrodger in the first programme, because I used to work with someone of that name.

All that speculation about it being foreign, when it has been traced back to Sowerby Bridge in Yorkshire. There's a One Name Study into the name too.

For some  reason the narrator insisted on consistently mispronouncing the name, whereas the people on screen got it right.
Looking at ALSTON in south Ribble area, ALSTEAD and DONBAVAND/DUNBABIN etc. everywhere, HOWCROFT and MARSH in Bolton and Westhoughton, PICKERING in the Whitehaven area.

It must have been awful for man of 33 years to find out that he was adopted.
I cannot remember his name but he was the one who lived over pub as a child.
His house and garden were full of scrap when he passed away. Loads of dinky toys !
His parents were wrong, to delay so long before telling him.
Formal Adoption was relatively new, so perhaps the parents were misguided.

I know a few people who were adopted, their parents told them, when they were very young,
Basic details before they started primary school.
As they reached teenage years, they were given more info.
When they reached 18 they were allowed to see their adoption papers.
Very good parent child relationships
