thanks Jac, I've saved a copy for future reference!
I like the term 'silent birth' presumably a still birth today.

This is a superb link - I just located my great x4 grandfather Robert Gilmour. He died in the parish of Kettle but was from Markinch; it had never occurred to me that he would have been buried in Markinch. This should also add some information on earlier Gilmours once I work it all out.

I havent heard of any patons / Terrasses..sorry

BUT as for Sutherlands I have zilllllions... main area is Fife, Dunfermline Kirkaldy.  But also lots in Glasgow and then the odd ones stretch to Dundee and Edinburgh.

mostly shoemakers... nearly all Roberts or George or John or James,  so if you are interested I can send a descendancy list pm....

How far back can you trace your Sutherlands? Mine were saddlers originally from Caithness pre-1800s, moved to Fife in c1875. I do have some shoemaker Sutherlands. I'd be interested in whatever you have anyway as I'm considering a one-name study on Sutherland. :) PM me!
