Thanks John. Unfortunately there were two William Rooks who each may have had a son George at roughly the same time, and one of them wasn't baptised just to make it more difficult. But one family lived in Stanford, the other Broom, so I may be able to separate them by their abode.
I'm pretty sure the George who married Ann Head was the son of William and Mary (Smith), my 4xg grandparents from Broom.
I have the following
9 Jul 1820 Baptism George son of William and Mary who I think married Ann Head
24 Nov 1822 Bap George son of Alexander & Mary
c1820 birth George, son of William & Ann (Litchfield) who married in Old Warden in 1818, is what someone else is telling me. Having looked at it again in the cold light of day I'm beginning to doubt that this George existed and someone has invented him to fit an erroneous assumption
By 1841 I'm missing a George - three born 1820-22, one burial, one only in 1841. Where'd the third one go - if he actually existed.
I'm sure you're right when you say it'll be Alexander and Mary. And I've convinced myself that there's only one other George, son of William and Mary, who married Ann Head!
All the best
David
Final edit! Could you also check burial of Sarah Rook aged 7 on 9 July 1824. Were her parents named as William and Ann? Thanks
