There are two William and Sarah TINGLEs in 1841,

1841  HO107/803/15  f.51  p.22  Kettering
Lower Street

TINGLE
William     48    Weaver
Sarah      47
Thomas    22    Weaver
Rebbziah  16    Silk  "
Sarah     14
Eliza         5                   All born in County

1841  HO107/803/17  f.33;  p.15  Kettering
Northall?

TINGLE
William    48    Ag Lab
Sarah     46
John      19    Ag Lab
George   15      "
Charles   13                 All born in County

1851  HO107/1744  f.88  p.37  Kettering
Garants Yard      (next to Lower Road)

TINGLE
William    51    Silk Plush Weaver
Sarah     51    Silk Winder
Eliza       15    Silk Picker                  All born Kettering

1851  HO107/1744  f.200  p.36  Kettering
Prospect Place

TINGLE
William    58    Ag Lab          Kettering
Sarah     56     Laundress    Newton

Looking at these I would think your Mary belongs to the second family as the Mother Sarah is from Newton where the TINGLE - TOMPKINS marriage took place.  There are many reasons why his job could have changed from weaver to ag lab between 1820 and 1841. Can anyone see if William is on the parish record for Mary's marriage in 1835? If so does it mention his occupation?

Hi Daisy,

Thanks for your post.

I can see your logic. I can see how a man can easily go from weaver to labourer

Separate evidence suggests that each William who married Sarah Blunt &
Sarah Tomkins respectively were each Weavers.

Thank you all for your efforts  ___ I think its now time to end this topic
