Hi Hallmark,
Thank you for all your help and information. It was through the parish records link on here that I found that particular Rose McKeon. Had thought for a long time, it was someone else, but the dates didn't add up and I found a family linked to her through another site. Even researched the former Rose's family and had thought I'd got quite far, so when I realised 'my' Rose had married someone who was not my great-grandfather, I went back to her marriage record and death registration and went searching in the parish records.
On Rose McKeon's marriage to my great-grandfather, John Friary, it simply states her place of residence as 'Columkill'. She is aged 20 in 1883, they were married in the chapel of Mullinalaghta in Scrabby and her father's name is James McKeon, so I searched the Scrabby parish records (alt names include: Scrabby and Collumkill, Columcille East, Mullnalaghta, etc) for 1863 and years either side. 26th January 1863. Rose McKeon- father: Jacobi McKeon. Mother: Maria Whitney
Sponsers: Michael McKeon & Catherine Donahoe was the only one I could find that fit her details.
However, I have trawled through the same parish register looking for another child with the same parents, but I am either missing it or there isn't one! Maybe James married again?!
Because of the amount of McKeon's in the area and their love for repeating Christian names, this line of the family is proving tricky!
