Hi,

Never heard of that name in Inishowen.
Could it be a corruption of Carlin?

There are lots of Carlands in Co.Donegal- see 1901 and 1911 census for a start.
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/

Also civil registration index-

Aguaazul- you need to give us more details- like names and dates and exactly what information you are looking for.

Thank you, I did look in the Ireland census, but I can't pick up on the family I am looking for,Sarah Carland d.o.b. 1887 in Tullynavin,  her Father was William.
Will look at Carlin!

Thank you for your help, but neither of these tie in. Sarah was married in 1908 and her Father William is on the birth cert. Surname on marriage cert is Carland.
I will have to get her birth cert.
Will have to find some Euros or can I get Republic of Ireland certs in Belfast?

Kind Regards

Sorry, I meant her Father William is on Sarah's marriage cert, surname on this is Carland.

Certs for all of Ireland up to 1921 are available in Belfast but much more expensive than getting from Ireland - Roscommon or Letterkenny. They accept credit cards.
Also Belfast certs are typed copies  - request photocopy of original from Roscommon or Letterkenny

I think this family I found earlier in 1901 census might be the correct one-
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Donegal/Redcastle/Tullynavinn/1186318/
Spelling variations of surnames (Carland/Carlin) are not uncommon, this is the townland you said she was from and Sarah's age match details you've given us.

If you do want to get Sarah's birth certificate, read through the notes here-
