Thought I would just pop in - have found this so interesting.

Re Boots the chemist and their libraries - I well remember my mother enrolling me in the 1950's at our local one in London. I thought I was in heaven with all those beautiful new books.

Yes J from Canada - as you have found Rootschat rules  ;)

Thanks for your input, Emmeline. I agree- a really interesting topic  even apart from the personal connection.

By the way- what a striking woman Emma Louise is!

The Newnes library has a Carnegie look about it perhaps...
And J - so glad that some good stuff came back!
Bazalgette, but mainly not FH information.
Has written a biography of Jean Louis Bazalgette - "Prinny's Taylor"

Hello J from Canada

Thank you for your reply. Yes, she was certainly beautiful - my maternal grandmother,  and a very sweet lady too.

I think you will agree there is such a lot of interesting information to be found on Rootschat. Enjoy  :)

Interesting to see the piccies of Putney.

I left my family home there nearly 39 years ago after I marrying my 'ode Suffolk bor'.

However, I was due to take up a place with head office in Toronto of Bank of Nova Scotia - I had been working for them in the City of London.

The thought of losing me to Canada prompted a marriage proposal.

Sorry guys, Suffolk won over Toronto  ;)
