Are you talking about the Elizabeth Partridge baptized 2nd January 1823?

If so, Family Search Record Search  http://search.labs.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#p=home shows her baptism as taking place at Meole Brace, Shropshire.

I assumed that was her, but did not check on pilot. That was closest I could get to 41 and 51 census

Is Meole Brace near coalfields as father was  a collier ?

Hi Kevin

its me Steph (your distant cousin)

sorry, still feeling rough, but yes, Elizabeth was born in Meole Brace, I have managed to get that.  Meole Brace is not far from shrewsbury.  Her mother was a Mary as well (I think just to complicate things) she was a former miss Wynne, (talk about keeping it in the family).  I think but have no def proof the first Mary died in 1829 and is buried in the churchard at St Mary's.

with regards coal fields, I think there were at some time coal fields up in the shropshire area but there were also a lot of tin mining, 'cus James Partridge was at one time a 'whitesmith' before he became a gas fighter.  a whitesmith is something to do with the tin mines.

catch you soon on family e mail

Steph

have copy of Mary Wynne death from St May's parish register.

As William death and a few entries in PR for children state collier it is fair to assume he worked in coal industry ( or did at one time )

Hi Kevin

u obviously on line.  there were coal fields over at Pontesford because my other half of the family lived at the engine house, which housed the engine that drove the lift down.

Have you seen the thread from Trish.
