I am also trying to find a Mckay connection to Alexander McKay. I have a James Mckay son of Joseph Mckay who Married Mary Loughery D/O Samuel Loughery 25 Oct. 1855. At the time of their marriage they listed Maine as their place of residence. Samuel Loughery lived in Maine and Joseph Mckay (probably b. abt. 1790 and died before 1867) lived in Drumsurn lower. In a death record for a James Mckay age 42, died 14 Dec. 1871 in Maine, the informant was Alexander McKay.
The age of this James Mckay fits with what little info I have on him being the son of Joseph. And there was a James McCay in the Valuation books for Maine North. 1860-1863 James McCoy/ McCay was listed as an Immediate Lessor, 1864-1882 Lessor name James McCay crossed out and occupant named James McCay Jr. written in . 1883-1892 James McCay jr. name crossed out.
Anyone have an opinion on if the James Mckay in Maine is the son of Joseph and if so is he related somehow to Alexander McKay?
