Not what I was expecting. 

It's her father's name and from what I have seen elsewhere, I thought his name was Robert.  This definitely doesn't look like Robert.

It looks like Hance to me, but it's not a name.

Looks like something close to Hance to me too  Hance/Hans etc. perhaps. Where was Rebecca born?

Could a mistake have been made with names I wonder if you are expecting father's name to be Robert.

There is a Robert Stevenson and Margaret Armstrong who had amongst their children a Hans and Rebecca in Glasgow in the late 1850s for example.

I am wondering if it's a mistake.  However, the person who died was Rebecca Stevenson, widow of James Moffat, collier.  My Rebecca died between 1871 and 1887 and was a widow of James Moffat, collier.

The potential errors are the father's name and the age (says she was 88, and that's wrong by about 15 years).

I attached an extract with the same `H', and another with similar letters - shows c, e, and a.

It could be Hance, and is spelled wrong for Hans.

I'm also attaching the only other location for the father's name.  It's the 1851 census.

You can see that the third line from the bottom is the same name as the bottom name.  This is also the only place I've seen this name, but I think they are both Robert.
