19th century Irish Ancestors
« on: Sunday 01 August 10 00:40 BST (UK) »
Hi
can anyone help me find some Irish family who were born in Dublin and Kildare?  I know that from 1860 onwards some records in Ireland were destroyed in a fire in Dublin, but I believe there are other ways to search.

I am looking for Rose Ann Deering born 1879 Kildare and her husband Alexander Joseph Conlan born 1880 in Dublin.  They had a total of
10 children born between 1906 and 1922.

Any help would be much appreciated.   :)

Hello magicruby,

welcome to rootschat  :)

Have you seen your family in 1911 census?

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Dublin/South_Dock/Merrion_Square__South/86131/

You can also search 1901 on the same site (drop down menu for year) to find Alexander with his family in Dublin

Also the James and Rosanna (mother) Deering are there but can't see Rosanna with them.
Rose is in Dublin.
If you haven't already got them it will be nice to find them.

best wishes
heywood

....

Irish Civil BMD records are completely intact, and cover from 1864 onwards for all Births, Marriages & Deaths. In addition non-Catholic Marriages were included in Civil records from 1845.

see : Introduction to Irish Records

The records destroyed in the Records Office in 1922 were legal records, some census returns and Church of Ireland registers. The Catholic records were not held in the office, so are intact.
