Look up in wiltshire

Hi All

I am looking for a lady that goes by either Caroline or Kate (both names used on 1891 and 1901 census know this is the same lady ad married to my Gt Grandad it states that she was born c1859 in Chippenham Wiltshire her maiden name would have been Rice or Price (its difficult to make this out on the census) I know this as her mother is living with the family in 1901 her name is Anna and she was born in c1826 in Torquay Devon.

Can anyone help me find the right name for this lady and if possible her fathers name

Thanks for the swift reply looks like to name is Rice, although have just found a Caroline Rice on free bmd that fits the lady guess she couldnt make up her mind what she wanted to be called

I did have a look for them in 1871 but couldn't see anything conclusive ..............

There were a few RICEs with connections to Chippenham including ...............

Furthermore there are a number of other Caroline RICE, Kate RICE, Ada RICE etc. but I can't see anything that matches what you already have.  Similarly with Hannah/Anna

Do you have Caroline/Kate's marriage certificate?  If not, I would suggest that that may be your next step to try and identify something about her father.

Hi Mimosa I was looking for this one at the same time as Casalguidi yesterday and was unable to find them in 1871....I found this possible family in 1851 but with the absence of  the persons from  both the 1851 and the 1881 in the 1871 and with Hannah POB listing as Teignmouth in 1851 I am unable to tell if it is the same family

There is a birth

Caroline RICE - Chippenham - Jun 1860 - 5a 60

but caution!!

Death Caroline RICE - Chippenham - Jun 1888 - 5a 43 - aged 25

Not sure how that helps!!

Thanks for the help, I think the next stage is the Marriage cert this lady Kate/Caroline was married to my Gt grandad (who also seems a very confusing family and there is noone to ask so working blind there too but thats another story for a different site East London Louis/Lewis Wood c1862).
