Are These Ladies Related?
« on: Monday 02 August 10 08:05 BST (UK) »
I would be interested in people's opinions on these photos.

The girl in the centre is my grandmother aged 17 and again aged about 30 on the right.

The old picture on the left is possibly her grandmother. This is a glass plate (or ambrotype).

Do you think they could be relatives? I thought the nose could be similar.

Thanks for looking.

... your gran was a fine looking woman Pippakit, I'd only be guessing re her relative because there isn't much to go by ... similar face shape perhaps ... but time-line could be right  :-\ mare

Hi Pippakit,

For what it's worth, I think that the women are related and do see a similarity. It won't be proof but I may help in making your mind up.

:-\ ..now leading you astray Greenvalley :-[ ...  I typed Pipasiant instead of  Pippakit ... thought I was rectifying my error ... I've never used spellcheck which would have brought it to my attention in the first place I suppose

Enlarged view of the older woman does show similarity around eyes/brow as well but again nothing conclusive ... expression is so very different in the two women of course too  :) mare
