St Peters Roscommon ?
« on: Monday 02 August 10 16:26 BST (UK) »
Could someone please help ... Im trying to see whether my 2 x great grandparents married in a catholic or protestant church . I know they were married in 1854 in St Peters Roscommon however does that mean the parish of St Peters or the actual St Peters & Paul church by the river ?
My 2 x great grandfather was in the british army and I gather there was a garrison church at the Athlone barracks .. could this be where they married ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated .

Do you have details of the marriage from a civil cert ?

If so they were not Catholic - full registration only started in 1864

If you dont have a marriage cert you could check the Civil BMD Index for a marriage - if you find one then they were non-Catholic -  probably Church of Ireland
