Mary Black
« on: Wednesday 04 August 10 15:07 BST (UK) »
Would anyone have a Mary Black in their family tree. Born 1889 died in 1906.

She was a 17 year old runaway who died in Dublin after giving birth to a girl - ann black.

Her death certificate said she was a farmer's daughter.

Seville,  Duggan, Wogan,Black, Whelan, O Toole, Shepherd, Doyle. Ryan

Have you checked the 1901 census for possibilities? any idea where in Co. Down she was from and what religion?

The only information I have on her was what my grandmother was told as a small child.
She was supposed to be presbyterian / protestant from the north of ireland.
Have been following up all mary black's of the right age on the 1901 census and then trying to follow them up on the 1911 census. But to no avail

Try listing details from 1901 census then use those details to check 1911 entries. You can search 1911 by name, age, birthplace, etc. Some you will probably find still with their families in 1911.
When you say from the North of Ireland- is it Co. Down in particular that was mentioned? if not then there are 5 other counties in present Northern Ireland and 3 more Ulster counties still in the Republic (Donegal, Cavan. Monaghan).

That's what I queried again-

No mention of any county just north of ireland.

Have already tried cross checking 1901 census with 1911 census, to try and eliminate the wrong mary blacks.  Have also  tried all counties in Ireland not just north of ireland

In that case will move this to Ireland-General board.
