Looking at the marriage, is this Belfast Ireland, please or is there one in Australia?  I know loads of our place names are repeated all over!

Hi Emms
Port Fairy in Victoria used to be known as Belfast, and I see in another post that the ship was going to Port Fairy.
Did you know there are Hoey's in Queensland and NSW too?  I used to know Lorna Hoey but she died in a car accident a few years ago, coming back from visiting relatives in northern NSW somewhere, and her husband died some months later, I think from a broken heart.
Whoops, didn't see the other post telling you re Port Fairy/Belfast. Sorry.

I'm coming late to this party, just signed up when I came across 'Patrick Hoey'. In my tree I have a Patrick Hoey married to Elizabeth Bridget Gregory.  They appear in the 1841 English Census located in Warwickshire. I have the same information already mentioned by Dundee. My husband is a direct descendent through Rosanna Hoey and William Lee who had 15 children, his Grandmother was a LEE born in Port Fairy, Victoria (orginally named BELFAST). I have a considerable tree descending from these poeple, but like you would like to find out more about the Irish connection.

Wendy
I don't have any connection to "Patrick Hoey", so I'm sorry for hijacking this thread.
I wanted to leave a message for Wendy, as she is a new member I can't send her a PM, until she posts another three messages.
Wendy I notice you have listed Brocchi & Zeiss as people you are researching. I have these in my Tree, also some of the other names you have seem to ring  bell with me.
So perhaps we could have a chat, about how we are connected.  :)

Hey there!
My grandparents are Hoeys that live in Port Fairy (Belfast) Australia, I was speaking to my grandfather, Clifford Hoey, about the history of our family and he mentioned a Patrick Hoey arriving via boat to Port Fairy from somewhere in Ireland. Possibly the same Patrick?
