Dating & clean up please
« on: Thursday 05 August 10 14:18 BST (UK) »
Good morning,

For the 4th time I've tried to edit down this photo, hopefully I've done it now.

This is either an old school class photo or some kind of family reunion photo. It was taken in Grey county Ontario Canada, most likely in the Euphrasia or St. Vincent area...around Meaford/Rocklyn. I have been lucky enough to be in contact with a couple of people who have identified 2 of the people in the photo. Since the 2 identified are related it doesn't help me out on if its a class photo or family photo. The lady holding the baby in the back row is Mrs. Abraham Crabtree, aka Mary Jane Cook born about 1859. The girl in the middle row in the checkered dress is Isabella Cook born 1887, if that helps to date this.

Doesn't really look that bad for "wear" on here. Can anyone get the "fuzzy faced" kids to look not so fuzzy? Thanks!

Another one for you Lisa. I've tried to sharpen the one that moved while the pic was taken (!) and removed the tears and creases. Someone should be able to approximate a date for you but, given the different time zones, it may be a little later.

Hope someone reads this & answers.

Can I repost this photo to the Canada board? I really think this is a school class photo. I'd like as many people as can to view this photo on the off chance they recognize a family member & can identify them for me. Looking at the gentleman holding the baby, I think this photo is take in the late 1890's. If anyone can agree or disagree with my dating, please feel free to tell me.

Thanks again,
Lisa

Hi Lisa

Why don't you start a new post on the Canada board and include a link to this one?

You may get some interest then.

Good luck!
Best wishes, Judy :-))
