Hi Lisa
I looked on Ancestry at my local library (my only source) and was unable to find my John Burley.  The only John Burley b 1876 I found crossing into the US was born in Scotland.  It seems that your have a better source that I have.  How (where) did you find the information that you have???? Thanks for your help.  Karro

Hi Karro:

I didn't see an immigration record for John.  In Reply #4:
"John was born in Birmingham, England on March 16? 1878 and he entered the U.S. at Lewiston?, N.Y. on August 28, 1900."
was taken from Carrie's naturalization papers (1935).  Carrie stated the above facts.

I believe I looked for his passenger record and did not find one.  I'll have another look, just in case there might be one.

Regarding Caroline/Carrie - I have two (Canadian) ancestors named Caroline who went by the name Carrie.

I wonder if Carrie and John crossed the border in 1900 just to visit the states?  Or, maybe they stayed a few years and returned to Ontario prior to 1911?
-----------
Update:  I cannot find Carrie or John either on the 1901 census or on a border crossing record.  Sorry.

Thanks for the clarification Lisa.  I couldn't find any information  for John & Carrie on the Canadian 1901 census or the American census.   Where could I find Carrie's (Caroline) naturalization papers??? Is that information on Ancesty or another source??? I don't have any experience with American records.  Thanks so much.  Karro.

Hi Karro, I found the naturalization papers on An...try.  I don't know if they can be found on another pay site.
