Hi Phil Just tidying up the Devon board. Can't tell by this reply if this request is completed. Has this information been provided via PM or are you still looking for the information?.....Kris  :D

Hi Kris, i have had some interesting feedback but not conclusive. It could be down to the state of the transcriptions or may be down to Ancestry.com having an estimated birth year wrong or the wrong birth date down on George Kellands marriage cert. The best match yet would be born in 1846 in Bickley Devon as Debbi has found a George Kelland in the Merchant Navy later born there that year. No one as yet has found him in 1851 and i looked on 1837online.com but couldnt find any record of his birth, best wishes, Phil.

Well Phil what a pesky family these are. I don't think George in Dodbrook is right though I cannot see that one in 1851. I have chased the family back to 1841 and no Ann and no Collumpton either. I just can't find your George in 1861 (The Bickley 1846 one is a different George by the way)

Now in 1841 can I find Robert.....No of course not! there are some in Culmstock that look like they connect

HO107/0230 Folio 13 Page 21
WR Sup....
Culmstock

KELLAND Henry 23 Yes Blacksmith
KELLAND Sarah 22 Yes
KELLAND Ann 3 Months Yes
KELLAND Ann 20 Yes Ind

(1851 and 1861 Henry and his family are still in Culmstock he is listed as born Hemyock?)

It may Help....Cheers Kris  :D

Hi Kris , thank you for your help. Yes they certainly are pesky. Perhaps thats why George went to sea to get away from them all.I sent for the birth cert of George who turned out to have parents Robert and Ann and was dissapointed not to have found his father was Thomas (agr labourer). I wonder if george was brought up by his grandparents for some reason and it was his Grandad as his father on his wedding cert as a (agr labourer). Another angle might be was Roberts wife Ann a Sawyer orignally. By the way did you trace the Bickley George further to eliminate him, thanks again, Phil.

Now that is peculiar Phil. I was sure I had him in 51 but I can't find him now so I guess I confused myself with these people...LOL...The amount of times I switched censuses I think I lost myself.

1851 we have
George Kelland 1849 Exeter Robert and Ann
George Kelland 1849 Dartington Tryphena Coachmans Wife
George Kelland 1850 Dawish William and Mary
George Kellond 1849 Kingsbridge Mother Charlotte Masons Lab Wife
George Kellond 1849 Stokenham Hanry and Elizabeth

1861 we have
George Kelland 1846 Bickley Servant
George Kelland 1848 Stokenham
George Kelland 1849 Dodbrook
George Kellond 1851 Dawlish

Now 2 are obvious at least...now is
alas Ive just solved Dodbrooke as well Im afraid Dodbrooke is in Kingsbridge area

1851 with  mother Charlotte Kelland and he does have a brother Henry 3 months. Then in 61 there is Charlotte Sawyers Dau with Granny and boys  so alas I think that is the Sawyers one??? So does that nean we are back to Bickley?
