welcome - whats the link to Kent?

and how old did Frederick state on his marriage papers? - ah, OK its 'of full age' as is Ann ....

Also - Son Herbert born 13/3/1864 ( there may be other siblings) - where was Herbert born?

added: 1st pass of the census years shows that a Frederick Epps c1842, born Kent Maidstone is a patient in the 'Cavalry Barracks Hospital' in Windsor - he was a Private in the 2nd Life guards.

This must be Herbert - St Giles covered what we'd call the Holborn area - Bloomsbury & St. Giles South; St. George Bloomsbury; St. Giles & Bloomsbury; St. Giles North; St. Giles South

Births Mar 1864

EPPS  Herbert    St Giles  1b 475

The link to Kent, I am not certain but I think thays where his father William James Epps was from.
I don't have Fredericks wedding papers but he would have been born about the 1830 -1840's

Herbert Epps was born 13/3/1864 At Lying In Hospital Endell St.
St Giles South London so what you have aid is right!
His mothers name was Anne formely Harrison
I would like to know about his siblings and also what his fathers family did etc.
Thanks for such a speedy response!

They are online - both he and Ann* state 'of full age' - ie 21 or over.

They married in St Marys, Marylebone, on June 23rd 1861

Fred* was a bachelor  'soldier' living at 21, Queen Street- father William James a 'retired tradesman'

Ann was a spinster at 2, Spring Street - father Robert a 'Dealer in Cement'

I rather think he may be the Life guards soldier in hospital earlier in 1861 I showed above

Cant see any of them in the 1871 or 1881 census so far.

Can you assist further by stating more recent generations, so I can work backwards ?

Oh my your good and thank-you for helping.

The only other person I know about it Herbert Epps  born 13/3/1864, he moved to Australia. I think he came on a refrigeration ship as an engineer.
I think he had 2 brothers though.
Thank-you.

ah, I wondered if the family had emigrated!

No sign at all in 1871 - 1901, and no obvious deaths or marriages of the key players.

Post a new query on the relevant Australian Board / Forum on here.

I cant follow Ann Harrison back easily, even with her fathers name, as it a more common surname, and we dont know if she was born or just working in the Marylebone area before marriage (altho a 'Robert Harrison' did witness the Marriage Certificate)

The story goes that Anne Harrison taught needlework to the royle family, and yes it is hard to trace with here name

Only Herbert came to Australia the rest of the family stayed in the UK as far as I know.

Thanks
