Can anyone help with any details of an Alexander Watty from St Ives, born c 1844, his occupation was Sailmaker. He moved to Liverpool where I believe he married.

Hi Keyboard, He gives his age in the Irish census as 56 in 1901, although it is not  very clear, and could be earlier, perhaps 50. His wife is 47 in the census, so perhaps this is the correct record. I know a lot of people didnt know their actual age way back then.
I take it the reference you give will get me his birth record? Can you explain how I go about it as I am totally new to English records.
