.... when you

1) Celebrate the addition of new records to ancestry or findmypast as if it's your birthday

2) Consider yourself an expert in what christian names were in fashion at any point in the 1800s!

3) Write your own computer programme to store your records

That's the problem - I started genealogy so I could share my interest with others, but still haven't managed to collate everything into a version others could understand!

You tell family about an ancestral find like you have won £100000 and get a "Very Good" reply and thats it, no more yet still have to listen to their everyday chatter on mundane things.

You find out your ancestor or a sibling of an ancestor spent time outside Europe, and find a passenger list and act like you have won £1000000.

3) Write your own computer programme to store your records
or write database applications for a well-known forum, so that others can find names more easily :)

Hehe ;)

I've been out of the habit of programming for the last couple of years, but when I was tackling something complex I needed ABSOLUTE silence in order to concentrate. Woe betide anyone who interrupted...

So yeah, "tetchy" just about covers it...
